This session, chaired by Madonna King, opens the day with a sharp conversation across industry, the renewables sector and agriculture on what the energy and economic opportunity actually looks like for Queensland, and the conditions needed to capture it.

A regional leader who has seen Queensland's political and economic landscape from multiple vantage points reflects on what the energy transition means for the communities living closest to it, and what genuine opportunity for regional Queensland requires from industry, investors and government.

The gap between how the energy industry talks about community partnership and how it's experienced on the ground remains one of the transition's most pressing challenges. This session gives that ground-level reality a direct voice, from the mayors and landholders hosting projects to the organisations working daily at the interface between communities and developers.
