Peter Cowling is a highly regarded leader in the Australian and New Zealand renewable energy sector, with over 20 years of experience shaping the industry from its early stages through to large-scale commercial maturity. He has held senior executive roles with leading global OEMs including, Vestas, General Electric, Suzlon and NEG Micon, and has been directly involved in the development, contracting and delivery of more than 8GW of renewable energy projects across Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific region.

Peter is recognised for his strategic leadership and deep commercial expertise across the full renewable energy value chain, including project development (as founder of Mint Renewables and the development arm of Vestas), EPC delivery, grid connection, contracting, infrastructure finance and operations. He has successfully built businesses from inception, transformed underperforming operations, and led complex organisations through periods of rapid growth and market change.

A proven people leader, Peter has built and led high-performing, multidisciplinary teams across development, sales, construction and service environments, often within complex regulatory and stakeholder landscapes. He has overseen large workforces and substantial P&Ls, with a strong focus on safety, risk management and delivery excellence. His leadership style is widely respected for combining commercial discipline with collaboration and accountability.

Peter has also played a significant role in shaping renewable energy policy and industry reform in Australia. He is the immediate past Chair of the Clean Energy Council and has been a long-standing adviser to governments, regulators and industry bodies. His contributions include active involvement in the re-affirmation of the Renewable Energy Target, the Finkel Review, and the establishment and leadership of the Connection Reform Initiative, working closely with AEMO, AEMC and industry leaders to address systemic challenges in the electricity market.
