Antti Harjula
Job title
Manager Power System Performance & Connections
Organisation
Powerlink Queensland
Speaker bio
Antti Harjula is a leading expert in power system engineering with over 15 years of experience in transmission system planning, stability analysis, and renewable integration. Currently serving as Manager of Power System Performance & Connections at Powerlink Queensland, Antti plays a key role in enabling Queensland’s energy transition through innovative grid technologies.

Prior to joining Powerlink, Antti led power system engineering at Fingrid, Finland’s transmission system operator, where he pioneered approaches to manage converter-dominated grids and implemented grid-forming inverter capabilities. His work has influenced national and Nordic strategies for system stability and renewable integration.

Antti has presented internationally on topics including grid-forming inverters, system strength, and stability solutions, and has contributed to technical standards and planning frameworks. He also served as a visiting researcher at Imperial College London, focusing on wind power control and system dynamics.

At the summit, Antti will share insights into the application of grid-forming inverters at the transmission level and their role in unlocking a cost-efficient, resilient energy future for Queensland.
Presentation title
Unlocking Queensland’s Energy Future with Grid-Forming Inverters
