Presentation title
Contracting strategy for storage assets
Presentation summary
Contracting storage assets was for a long time dominated by physical tolls which gives operational control of the storage asset to the offtaker. The other traditional (but risky) revenue option for storage asset developers was to go fully merchant and operate the asset to maximise wholesale energy spot market arbitrage.
However, as storage penetration increases, contracting arrangements are evolving to enable storage offtakers to get access to storage's revenue streams without physically controlling the asset. New contract structures involve different risk-return considerations for asset owners & project developers, including different 'bankability' considerations.
CORE Markets works at the forefront of innovative contracting arrangements for storage assets and has developed bespoke structures and dynamic contracting strategies that meet the needs of project developers & asset operators seeking to optimise their revenues, as well as retailers and C&I customers seeking firming solutions to complement their renewable PPAs.
