Bree brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, public relations, event management, and policy advice across several industries, including renewable energy, higher education, and government. With over eleven years of industry experience, Bree has supported more than 40 renewable energy developments, built strong connections with regional communities, and delivered result-oriented strategies for various clients and organisations. Bree holds a Master of Social Change and Development (MSCD) and an IAP2 Certification, qualifications that equip her to enhance the effectiveness of large-scale projects by ensuring they are socially inclusive, sustainable, and aligned with community needs. These qualifications, combined with her extensive experience, provide Bree with a deep understanding of social dynamics, development strategies, and sustainability practices—enabling her to make informed decisions that promote long-term community well-being.

This presentation will examine the merits of strengths-based approaches and best practice engagement strategies with First Nations communities for large-scale solar and energy storage projects through:
- Highlighting the importance of connecting with and listening to First Nations people on Country.
- Considering how new industry guidelines provide tangible direction for engagement, community benefit sharing opportunities and management of engagement fatigue in Queensland.
- Demonstrating how to incorporate the knowledge, stories, and values of First Nations communities to increase the efficiency of achieving net zero.
