The Hon. Cr Lawrence Springborg AM is a highly respected public leader with more than three decades of distinguished service to Queensland and Australian communities. He currently serves as Mayor of Goondiwindi Regional Council, bringing extensive experience in government, regional development, health and rural advocacy to local leadership.
Lawrence Springborg entered politics at the age of 21, becoming the youngest member ever elected to the Queensland Parliament. Over a 28-year career he held a number of senior leadership positions, including Minister for Health, Leader of the Opposition, Leader of the Queensland National Party, inaugural Leader of the Liberal National Party (LNP) and a long-serving Member of the Queensland Parliament.
A proud fourth-generation Queenslander, he lives with his family on their farming property near Inglewood, where he continues to maintain a mixed farming enterprise and remains deeply committed to the prosperity, capacity and sustainability of rural communities.
