Steve Cole is Director of Operations Support and Aftermarket at Fortescue, where he leads a newly established function spanning Contracts and Procurement for Metals and Operations, Asset Management and Warehousing, China Operations (including Green Fleet and Supply Chain), and the development and expansion of the company’s Aftermarket capability. In this role, he is focused on optimising procurement and supply chain performance while building a competitive Aftermarket business to deliver long-term commercial value.

With more than 25 years of experience in the mining and metals industry, Steve has a proven track record of uplifting people, culture and safety, and delivering strong operational outcomes. His expertise spans mine rehabilitation, closure and performance improvement across a diverse range of commodities including iron ore, bauxite, copper and coal. He combines deep operational experience with technological acumen and strategic insight to lead transformation initiatives and drive sustained operational excellence across Australia.

Steve previously served as Director of Mining Operations at Fortescue, where he oversaw operational excellence across the company’s haematite mines for three years, leaving a strong legacy of performance and discipline. He is widely recognised as an influential and focused leader, known for fostering environments built on innovation, transparency and high performance.
